Wednesday and Surgery Morning

Yesterday we finished up our trolley ride touring Boston. We saw where Samuel Adams, John Hancock, Paul Revere, Benjamin Franklin's parents, the 5 people killed in the Boston Massacre, and the first woman that stepped off the Mayflower are buried. Mary Winslow was the first girl to step off the Mayflower and Grace is reading a book about her so that was neat.

One if by Land and Two if by Sea...
The oldest house in Boston, Paul Revere raised 16 children in this house.

The USS Constitution- oldest warship still floating.
We enjoyed lunch at the Quincy Market. After lunch we couldn't pass up some Boston creme pies!

Site of the Boston Massacre. I'm sure you can tell it was a bit rainy for our siteseeing day but we had a good time anyway!
Making crafts in our room.
The Yawkey Inn had a Christmas party last night. The kids loved decorating cookies! Different places around town come to fix meals and do special things. We had a great time and great food!
Grace might have a future in cake decorating. She seems to have a knack for it!
Amazing cake brought in by some volunteers.

Cool gingerbread man.
And for the reason we are here... we got up at 5:30. Joshua did great before surgery. He was very brave and distracted by a movie and the new Lego set we brought.
Big sister waiting patiently...

As it turns out Joshua will only be having the reconstructive palate surgery. There was a miscommunication from the doctor to the nurses to me. The doctor had told me in August that doing both at the same time would be too much for Joshua so when I found out otherwise I was a bit surprised. I think in October when I was there it was really chaotic in the room. Joshua was NOT happy and he was quite vocaL about it and there were about 6 doctors in the room. Regardless, Joshua was VERY happy that he wasn't going to have as many stitches. It does mean he'll probably have one more surgery next year BUT his nose looks good now so it can wait if he needs too. The palate surgery should help his ears, speech, and nasal regurgitation.

We are grateful he looked like this when he went back! He's such a cute little fella! I just love how his eyes close when he's grinning so big!
