Okay, here are some photos of Wenqian’s first plane ride and our train ride from Guilin to Nanning. Please pray for the two guys in the photo. They helped us a lot on the train and are studying in Guilin. They sat with us because they wanted to practice their English skills. We were able to share the gospel message with them but they have a similar worldview as many young Chinese people. That education and being able to have material goods will make them content in life. We have their email and QQ addresses and them ours so we will continue a relationship with them. Their English names are Bruce and Jay so please pray for them. The good news is that both sets of people we have been able to share with have heard the gospel message before so the believers in China are sharing with others for sure.

Now to an explanation on Wenqian’s name. When we were waiting to travel we knew that we had been given 3 different names for her. It was a paperwork problem but one of the orphanage directors told us it was Menqian. The character used for her name has two meanings, Min and Wen. Well, those that have cared for her and loved her on a daily basis have always called her by Wenqian (two characters). I won’t go into a lot of detail in how we found this out but the bottom line is our guide asked her, “Are you called Minqian or Wenqian?” She said “Wenqian!” So there you have it. At first I was very sad and angry for her that it seemed like no one knew her name. But the bottom line is that there are those in an organization that care for the children daily and there are those that take care of the paperwork. It’s just the way it is! And Chinese characters are complicated… they can mean different things and then you have to translate them into pinyin and English. SO…. I’m just glad we know her name now and I’m sure one day I’ll look at it as a funny story…. Maybe.

Oh, I can so identify with your mommy frustration with her name! We've had Maguja spelled and pronounced differently with every piece of paperwork and every person we talked to. Be encouraged....just a few more days till she's home with her forever family where you ALL know her name! Much love and prayers,
Sara and all
